Major pedestrian corridor to landmark bridge in Newport

Newport City Council commissioned LTC during August 2005 to design and administer the implementation of a major new footpath link on the east bank of the river, to the new pedestrian bridge over the tidal reach of the river Usk.

The footpath design incorporated a range of artistic elements, including serpentine railings with glass panels, dynamic paving patterns with uplighters and a landmark sculpture announcing the start of the route by artist Phil Bews. The scheme included environmental improvements to Maindee primary school, including increased play ground provision, vegetable growing areas and planting to encourage wildlife
